Tips In Improving The Loading Time Of Your Webpages

In the modern era today, hardly anyone wants to wait for something. Just take a look around and you will see products like one-touch photo printing, fast food and of course, digital products that can be downloaded instantly. That is why as a website owner you should keep the loading time of your webpages down. There are several things you can do in order to provide quick-loading webpages to your site visitors.

First, you can try to reduce the size of your images. Programs like ACDC can be used for this purpose. Just right click the image you want to reduce and then click "Convert" and "Options" to trade the quality of your image with its level of compression.

The next thing you can do is to use a tool like PictureDicer or Image Splitter that enables you to cut up large graphic files into smaller pieces that can be put back together using a table.

You can also use thumbnails that point to the large version of your images. This way, your site visitors will not have to wait for something they are not looking for.

Flash intros may look nice, but they take forever to load, especially for users that use dial-up connection. Cut them down or you will lose a lot of visitors even before they see your actual site.

The same is also true for JavaScript. If it is not really needed, just remove the code from you webpage.

If you provide audio or video on your website, do not turn it on automatically. It could annoy your visitors, especially the ones with slow internet connection. In addition it could make their browsers freeze.

When trading link with blog directories, many of them require you to put their logos on your website. If that happens try to store the logos in your own server.

How fast your webpage to load is actually influenced by several factors like the type of internet connection used by your site visitors and the quality of your hosting provider. Although you can do nothing about the type of internet connection of your visitors, you are always able to use a good hosting service.

Some studies conducted on internet habits show that you may lose half of your site visitors if they visit a webpage that takes more than 15 seconds to load. Just provide what is important and useful rather than what looks good.
