The Basic Steps to Search Engine Optimization Optimizating your webpages so that it appears attractive to the various
search engines is truely becoming an art and science. The better
optimized your website is, the more likely it is to rank higher with
the search engines web crawlers. This high ranking with the search
engines then translates into more traffic for your website, which then
means that your website should generate more profit. This is why good
internet search engine optimization is so important.
When you do a search on the internet using one of the search engines,
how often do you go beyond the first or second page of the results?
Most search engine users have also confirmed through various studies
and surveys that they rarely go beyond the first two pages of any
search engine results. This is why having a high ranking for your
website in search engine rankings is so important to the future success
of your website and online business! The amount of traffic to your
website is significantly lower if the website ranking is only high
enough to get it on the third page of the search engine results. There
is even a massive difference in traffic to websites between the first
and second page of the results. For a business on the internet, ranking
in search engine results is everything. It can mean the difference
between just existing or having a very successful business on the web.
For those new to search engine optimization, it can be a scary world
full of unfimiliar words that have meanings equally unfimiliar. There
are words like like web crawlers, PageRank, Meta tags, and algorithms.
If you have never heard of any of these words, then a quick internet
search of the word algorithm is not going to help as your most likely
result is a printout of strange symbols and numbers arranged into a
complex algebraic equations.
To explain some of these words and how they are used by the search
engines, starting with Algorithms. To put it simply is a complex set of
carefully defined instructions. All the programs in your computer are
designed with strict algorithms
Pagerank is the program that gave Google it's incredible success.
Google designed this program to search, index and rank all the webpages
it has registered.
Web crawlers is a word most of us are fimiliar with and they are used
by the search engines to search the World Wide Web in a methodical,
automated manner and they are in actual fact searching for algorithms.
Meta tags are special HTML tags that provide information to Web
Crawlers about a web page. Meta tags are written directly into the
title tag and are only visible to the search engine. There are other
types of Meta Tags that are also only visible to search engines, the
main two being the description and content Tags.
Knowledge of all the technical details involved in search engine
optimization is not necessary in designing a website to rank highly in
search engine results. The key is when designing your website it should
be content rich. This means that your website must be full of as much
information about your product as you possibly imput. By doing this,
your website will be helped in obtaining a good search engine ranking.
Another step in search engine optimization is to have your website full
of keywords that will attract the web crawler's attention, but, be
careful not do not over this as this can have a negative impact with a
Web crawler. By keeping things simple and following the instructions
that can be found on search engine websites about optimization, you
will end up with a wonderfully optimized website that the search engine
will compliment with a high pagerank.
In conclusion, as important as search engine optimization is to a high
ranking in search engine results, this alone does not determine how
high your website will rank. Most search engines now use other criteria
in there rankings including backlinks to your website, including the
quality of those backlinks, the content of your website and how
original the content is along with other things.
